ELWIN
Raye Cardigan Ecru
A boxy, swingy cardigan based on our Raye sweater shape in certified, traceable British wool. It's made from the natural ecru fleece of a single breed of native Bluefaced Leicester sheep, spun in Yorkshire and knitted in London - a truly British knit.
With the same relaxed silhouette as the sweater, the Raye cardigan has a dropped shoulder, boxy shape and a straight hem. The minimal, modern design combines heritage knitwear details at the seams inspired by English gansey jumpers and deep ribs at the hem and cuffs. A versatile piece that works well dressed up or down and pairs well with skirts, trousers or dresses.
Finished with undyed corozo buttons made in the UK, and sewn with cotton thread so that the whole knit is biodegradable and can return to soil at the end of it's long and useful life.
Our British wool comes from a specific breed, Bluefaced Leicester, known for the fineness of their fleece. It has a soft, luxurious feel and is comfortable to wear against the skin. It's fully traceable from farm to fibre and certified by British Wool, which means that farmers have been paid a fair price for their wool. It also means we know the name of every single farmer who's fleece went into our yarn.
Our knitwear is crafted using the traditional knitting process of fully fashioning whereby each piece is knit separately and then linked together and finished by hand at our partner factory down the road.
Made in England in small batches.
