Behind the Brand - Ada Dakin
“Our mission is to rewrite the fashion rulebook by making gorgeously responsible clothing whilst being kind to our planet. We feel passionate about making a difference and we believe in valuing and investing in home-grown British talent for the creation of each Ada Dakin piece. Pairing beautifully curated prints designed in Brighton, with effortlessly flattering silhouettes created and produced in East London from recycled plastics, Ada Dakin expresses the utmost pride in longevity and honesty, with each piece being made to love, last and cherish.”
Sophie Dakin, Founder
With a love for all women at its core, Ada Dakin is named after Founder Sophie Dakin’s grandmother, a gracefully strong yet beautifully independent woman who made her own dresses and taught Sophie how to sew on a sewing machine which now sits pride of place in her East London home. Ada Dakin is a kind and responsible collection which inspires individuality, femininity and offers ethically minded, considered fashion choices without compromising on style.
Ada Dakin's design process harnesses the power and elegance of hand-drawn and painted custom prints from skilled British designers, with each pattern representing a part of nature. They are then lovingly digitally printed by a family-owned socially responsible company equally as committed to our values, pairing non-toxic inks and zero-waste sublimation printing methods for a truly environmentally aware garment.
Ada Dakin's fabrics and trims are produced as responsibly as possible to guarantee a lower impact on our planet. Our fabric is OEKO-Tex Certified Recycled P.E.T., a beautifully soft and luxurious fabric which is easy to care for and can last a lifetime, and our zips are made from environmentally friendly Natulon which is eternally recyclable. Both innovative and adaptable products created by recycling and reforming discarded plastics and requiring a fabulously low carbon footprint and less water to produce.
Ada Dakin partner closely with their chosen small business suppliers, local manufacturers and independent artists who share the same ethical and sustainable values as them, whilst being committed to the highest quality possible.
With everything made in Britain and produced in local communities by employees earning more than the local minimum wage and working in safe and hygienic conditions, the inspirational women responsible for making the collection drive it forward with enriching stories to tell.
