Who Made Your Clothes? The Knotty Ones
The Knotty Ones go above and beyond when it comes to putting their workers at the forefront of their business. This brand truly wants to make a positive impact on lives. Here is more on how they work with craftswomen in their home country:
"We started The Knotty Ones with the dream of providing stable jobs, fair wages, and financial independence to women in marginalized areas of Lithuania, where these opportunities didn’t previously exist. We wanted to create something that made you feel good wearing it. Not only because you looked great, but also because you knew the woman who made your sweater got paid fairly and worked in a safe environment. We work with both artisans and local vetted factories to create opportunities in these rural communities."

"Our artisans who work on handmade pieces choose schedules that work for them and their families, whether that's part time, full time or while their kids are napping. They can work from the comfort of their homes, with everything they need to work safely and comfortably."
"Even in factories, all of our detailing is done by hand. We work only with audited factories that share the same values as us: female-founded, family run, and small team focused. That includes a 40 hour working week, fair wages, 100% safe working conditions, healthcare benefits, paid maternity leave and paid sick leave. Stuff we might take for granted but rarely exists in the garment industry."
"As we grow as a business, so do our knitters. We train our knitters on things like Excel and project management: skills they can take to their future jobs. Often, our knitters will grow upwards at The Knotty Ones, like Marina, our first ever knitter who now works as our Head of Production, managing over 70 knitters. Our wish is to empower women in rural areas by helping them to become more financially independent: we encourage them to dream and we help make these dreams come true."
