We caught up with MOPEPE - A new brand to Gather&See, designed and made in Kenya. We are super excited to be bringing them on.
MOPEPE was founded at the end of 2023 in Nairobi by two passionate creatives from Benin and Congo, united by a shared vision: to celebrate African heritage through contemporary design. We are rooted in the belief that fashion can be a canvas for storytelling, cultural preservation, and ethical production.
At the heart of MOPEPE is a deep love for Africa’s ancient textile traditions—each piece we create draws from hand-printed, hand-dyed, or manually handwoven techniques passed down through generations. From the intricate block printing on silk to the bold, handwoven dan fani fabrics, every garment carries a piece of the continent’s rich artistic legacy.
What makes MOPEPE unique is not just our craft—but our commitment.
All of our pieces are lovingly made in Nairobi, using sustainable and organic materials, primarily sourced from Africa. Where needed, we thoughtfully complement these with select high-quality fabrics from other regions to ensure the best fit, feel, and finish—always in line with our values of sustainability and ethical production.
Our swimwear, inspired by African print motifs, is made from recycled fabrics—bringing together beauty, boldness, and environmental responsibility.
Production takes place at a fair trade stitching workshop in Nairobi, where skilled artisans bring our vision to life with care and integrity. We are proud to support local craftsmanship and promote slow fashion with meaning and impact.
