Black Friday - A Word From Us
But... at the same time we know that times are tough and we all want our money to go further.
To cut to the point - no, we won't be offering Black Friday deals that our small business can't afford (more on this below). However, if you are a new customer you can join our newsletter at the bottom of our homepage to enjoy a discount on your first order to help discover why shopping with us is special, as you can for most of the year. We are offering free shipping on orders through November (again this an incentive we offer at various points through the year). And we have a great archive sale running (again a long term thing).
We don't regularly discount but if and when we do we will also let subscribers know when it is happening first so do sign up.
Why no big Black Friday sale?
This time of year is always conflicting for us as small business as we inherently disagree with the practise of pushing consumerism to extreme levels that are not sustainable and produce more waste and generate more debt. At the same time we are trying to keep up in a competitive market when everyone else is selling at discount, there is a lot of noise, and every year we lose out.
Big brands build this kind of mass discounting into their model. We are a small (two person) business and our margins can't take this kind of a hit. It is a bit damned if you do, damned if you don't. For that reason we've decided to stay away from it as far as possible and just stay true to our core values - transparency, authenticity and personal service. We've built amazing relationships with our customers over the years and have come to realise that you come to us for our unique proposition and service rather than big discounts so that is what we will stick to. We'll continue to focus on the brilliant stories behind our brands and the good that they are doing in the world.
If you've found a deal elsewhere bring it to us info@gatherandsee.com and we'll see if there's anything we can do. But we will never de-value the hard work of small brands, including our own.
